What is pumice?

Pumice is a volcanic rock (how cool?). The shape and texture of the rock is formed by the rapid cooling process and the reduced pressure generated when the rock erupts from the volcano.

Decompression leads to thousands of small bubbles in the rock. That’s why pumice is so light.

The pumice structure is made of volcanic glass, and sometimes glass. The sandpaper like texture and light properties make it the perfect tool because it is so tough that it does a great job at scraping any kind of build-up or stain.

If you need a pumice, there are many cheap options on Amazon.

Pumice are different in size, but what we saw in the store has been cut into small pieces and is perfect for cleaning (read more about the various uses of pumice).

How to clean the toilet with pumice stone

I grew up using pumice stones and learned some important lessons early. I remember watching my father work in the pool every summer, because he rubbed and shone the tiles.

This is a one-week process, but in the end the tile looks new, white mold is removed. Sometimes he asks me for help, and I’m doing it really amazing.

He told me to teach me two things about pumice.

step #1: Always wet pumice first

You want a wet pumice, so it can slide into the toilet. Dried pumice will provide more friction and have a higher chance of damage.

Just put pumice under the tap for a few seconds and you’re done.

step #2: No need to press hard

Most people think that they should remove the accumulator with pumice pressure as much as possible. This is not true.

Pumice works like sandpaper. Friction of 30 seconds or more light pressure usually does the trick, avoiding the need to press hard.

step #3: Wear gloves if you have sensitive hands

If you have a stubborn stain on your toilet, you may be holding pumice stone for a while. You need a good grip and hard hands.

It is advisable to wear gloves to avoid germs in the toilet, however, as long as you hold the pumice, you can scrape off the shallow layers of the skin. The use of gloves allows your hands to go further in the toilet.

step #4: toilet, prepare toilet with vinegar or cleaning solution

When cleaning my toilet I always began to brush with vinegar and toilet. Pumice stone save the last step of cleaning if I find difficult stains.

I found that vinegar, if left for a few hours, did a great job to loosen the accumulated. Then I can use pumice stone to remove the ring in the toilet (no chemicals are required).

Where can I use pumice stone (not on the seat!)

To know where to use pumice, you need to know the part of the toilet. The main part of the toilet is tanks and arches.

Porcelain is white, hard and a natural substance over time. The seat and lid is an accessory that is usually made of plastic or wood.

Porcelain is very hard, pumice does not damage the container or jar. It is important to follow the step #2 and not to press too much with pumice stones.

Light pressure and repetitive movements should remove an unpleasant toilet ring, you will find that some pumice are ground and fall to the bottom of the toilet – do not worry, when finished it is rinsed.

Plastic and wood found in the toilet seat should never be cleaned with pumice stones. Both materials are soft, scratched or crumbled.

Price of pumice

Pumice stone is affordable and easy to find in a home or online store (I love this with Amazon handle).

They usually cost around $10 depending on the brand and style.

Most families have a piece of pumice thrown around the house, but if you don’t, it’s smart to buy one.

They are useful for showering in your senses corns and shower tiles.
Once you have a pumice, it will last a long time; they usually last for years!

Conclusion

Pumice stone is one of the most useful tools for the bathroom, it works especially well on the toilet with the ring around the dishes.

If you have not used pumice before, consider that the damage it can cause to your toilet can be worrying. After all, pumice is a very hard abrasive stone.

Like tiles, porcelain is a very hard substance, and pumice does not harm your toilet. But you will want to take precautions: 1) wet stones before use, 2) do not press hard on the container and 3) wear gloves to protect your hands.

If possible, use natural detergents such as vinegar, baking soda or citric acid to relax the accumulator before using stones. Remember, do not use pumice stone on the toilet seat, as it can be made of plastic or wood.

Using pumice stone will not damage or scratch your toilet but be sure to use it correctly in the right area of the toilet. Pumice is my preferred tool for hard water stains and mold build-up.
